After reading the chapters that were assigned, I started to pass judgement on Holden. I began to think that Holden was annoying and very rude. I say he's rude because in chapter 2, when Holden went to visit Spencer, you saw how easily Holden get annoyed. So I feel like when he gets annoyed, he can get an attitude, just like any teenager. "I had to sit there and listen to that crap" That quote helps support my theory of him being rude. Yeah he was bored while talking to Spencer, but even when I'm bored, I don't think like that. I start to think about unicorns or something like that. Another quote that I found was "I'M THE MOST terrific liar you ever saw in your life" HE'S A LIAR! That adds to the whole bad boy thing. So that also makes Holden annoying because you can never tell if he's telling the truth or not. So I pass judgement on Holden. Maybe my opinion on Holden will change as I read on. Who Knows. :)

  1. I see how you would pass judgement on him. Yet, I can't help but wonder if he would be this way had he stayed at one school his whole life instead of being kicked out of multiples. Is it the fact that he goes to boarding school what made him this way? Or was he always destined to be like this? Yeah. He's rude. And excuse me Mrs. J but I am going to stereotype him here and say that is because of the life he was brought up in. The east coast, boarding school way of life. Sorry! :p

  2. I disagree that he is rude, because he is acutally very polite. He treats people with kindness, even if he does not actually like that person. I think that Holden judges people, but he is a very kind person. If you notice, the rude things that he says are only in his head, he is very polite when he actually speaks. He may judge people on the inside, but on the outside he is respectful.
